Privacy Policy

Last amended: October 2025

We at DHF-BG Health Foundation value your privacy and care deeply about how your information is used and shared. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you visit our website (dhf-bg.org) or interact with our services. By using our site or submitting information, you agree to the terms outlined here. We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The updated version will be posted on this page, so please check back periodically. This Privacy Policy is part of our User Agreement.

Collection and Use of Information

We collect personal information only when you voluntarily provide it, such as when registering for our DHF database to access resources on our projects, workshops, or health programs. To register, you must submit your first and last name, email address, and country. Optionally, we also ask for your state/province, city, gender, and how you heard about us. This data helps us improve our website, tailor content to your needs, and encourage participation in our Problem Solving for Better Health (PSBH) and Communications for Better Health (CBH) programs.

We use your name and email to send updates about DHF-BG activities, such as upcoming workshops in Pleven or Gabrovo, or information on health topics like phenytoin benefits and diabetes tips. If you prefer not to receive these emails, opt out during registration or contact us at postmaster@dhf-bg.org or +359 2 123 4567 (our Bulgarian office line). We never sell or rent your data to third parties.

We also collect anonymous information automatically from all visitors. Our server logs your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, device information, and pages visited. We may use cookies to track traffic patterns and improve user experience. Cookies are small text files stored on your device to recognize your browser. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may limit site functionality. This anonymous data is aggregated to analyze site usage, such as the number of visitors to health mask guides or PSBH resources, without linking it to personal details.

Sharing Information

We may share your information with DHF-BG’s local coordinators or partners (e.g., Pleven University Library) to facilitate workshops or services you sign up for. If you do not want us to share your data with coordinators, check the opt-out box during registration or email us at postmaster@dhf-bg.org.

We share personal information with trusted service providers who help maintain our site, such as hosting (Hostinger) and content management tools (WordPress). These partners use your data only for the services we request and are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.

In special cases, we may disclose information to comply with legal obligations, enforce our User Agreement, or protect DHF-BG’s rights, property, or safety. For example, if required by Bulgarian or EU law under GDPR, we will share only what’s necessary.

Your Access to Your Information

You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal data. To do so, email us at postmaster@dhf-bg.org or call +359 2 123 4567. We respond within 30 days, as per GDPR. If you want to withdraw consent for data processing, let us know – we’ll stop immediately.

Children

Our site is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we discover such data, we delete it promptly. Parents, if you believe your child has provided information, contact us at postmaster@dhf-bg.org.

Security

We store your personal information on secure, password-protected servers in the EU (GDPR compliant). Only authorized DHF-BG staff have access, and we use encryption for transmission. While no online transmission is 100% secure, we use industry-standard measures like HTTPS and regular audits to protect your data. In the event of a breach, we’ll notify you as required by law.

Data Transfer

If you’re outside the EU, note that your data is processed in Bulgaria (EU member). By using our site, you consent to this transfer. We comply with GDPR for all users, ensuring equivalent protection.

Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies for site functionality (e.g., session management) and analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics) to improve our services. You can manage preferences via browser settings or our cookie banner. For detailed info, see our Cookie Policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or laws. We’ll notify you via email or site notice for material changes. Your continued use after updates means acceptance.
